Birthday time! Let’s activate our true Oregonian powers and party on the Coast in winter. Much like they do in Alpine communities, we’ll melt some cheese, drink some liqueur, and dress in neon to keep things steamy.
This isn’t a milestone trip around the sun for me, but we should always find reasons to celebrate each other in big ways. Even for the smallest things. My birthday has always been a big deal to me, but it isn’t really about me: it’s a scheme to get my favorite people together to do our favorite things. (Plus, I like making flyers.)
I look forward to celebrating with you and kicking of 2022 as a good year for us all.
Hey. It’s us.
Natalia & Leather
Weighing in at a collective 385lbs, with a combined 19 shoe size, we’re a sturdy team of cooks and kooks.
You all know us. We’re the ones who keep feeding you beef and we’re so grateful for your friendship and love.
Angel Teta
This girl. Amiright? She has more spandex than Richard Simmons! Or did he prefer sequins? Well, she has a load of that too.
Anything we do together ends up a ball of laughs: Vegas, Disneyland, the squishy river bottom of the Willamette. She’d pretty much go anywhere…and she does. This bish has more frequent flyer miles than, well, Richard Simmons!
Matt & Sarah Blackmore
Matt & Sarah Blackmore
Way back in 2014? I think that was it. We had our first beach retreat and packed-in 12 adults to a house that had no business with that many poop-makers, let alone the 100lbs of fish and crab that we caught and ignorantly shoved into the fridge..which broke. So we moved the 5 cases of beer into the bathtub. But not before the toilet backed up and we were all stuck pottying on top of each other for 2 days. But it was worth it for the shot-slaps, competitive flip cup, burnt fingers, twerked-on faces and laughs.
Plus, it was one of the first times Matt and Sarah had been to a friend-centric trip, and arguably the turning point of their love story. (At least from where I sat!) I can still remember when Matt showed up, and Sarah was ever so slightly nervous watching him park. He came upstairs and within about 15 mins he’d hacked the WiFi network and changed its frequency to fuel some kind of device. And the rest was history: Matt was now our resident IT guy.
That is until he became the game master.
Tami Wood
We’ve been friends forever, it feels like. Tami and I met in 2011 when our friend convinced us to be in a li’l video called Sh*t Portlanders Say. This last february we celebrated our decade friend-aversary (cute)!
We have more inside jokes than I can keep track of, and most of them are from Tami’s voice-to-text failing, and us adding Siri’s fantasy words in our lexicon. Anyone want to go to Panpuy on a starry Gknight?
Rachelle Hacmac
Our timing was perfect when Rachelle and I went to Italy and Paris for a few weeks in October/November 2019. I think at that point COVID was still in negotiations with human DNA, but hadn’t released its format for the 2.0 prototype just yet. By the skin of our teeth, we visited as many cocktail bars as we could find.
If you don’t know Rachelle deeply, you’re missing out. She is the caring-est gal in town. Never missing a milestone event—be it holidays, surgeries or restaurant openings: she’s there.
Molly Wolfe
Molly is the ideas gal in our lives. She’s always coming up with quirky and zany plans for events, trips, inventions, or life hacks for everyday function. She’s pretty damn handy, too. She’s almost as good with a power drill as she is as skiing down a black diamond in a snow storm.
Despite having almost no understanding of text messages that she sends using “speak and spell” I know that she is there for me (and all of us) as a friend. She’s the one to call when there’s a crisis and you need one of her 10 shovels to bury…whatever it is that needs to be buried.
Djason Horvath
If there is one person who has seen the ups and downs of my life and personality, it’s this guy. Thankfully, Jason is the most even-keeled person I’ve ever met. Through the years he has not only supported the majority of my events by photographing them, he’s also bartended, cleaned and glued together limitless public and Casa de Main get-togethers. In his spare time, he likes long sessions making music, walking through blackberry brambles to play disc, and using the scent of a random person’s vulva for immersive art installations.
Leah Scafe
She so cute. This Canadian has traveled the world executing the largest dinner series that ever was, from an old bus. By the time I met her, she was orchestrating a similar undertaking with Feast, and we bonded over our event/side hustle minds.
Leah and I have many similar interests: beautiful spreadsheets, punctual people, social drinking, the right aioli for fries, a nice seared tuna loin. But Leah is a beacon of calm energy, healthy living and operating on less than 3 hours of sleep. I look up to her for that, and not just because she is a foot taller than me.
She’s become one of my favorite people, and I feel lucky to have her in my life.
Do you have après ski threads? Bring them! (I’m looking at you, Molly)
